In partnership with Waste to Wonder, this project supported the impactful ‘School in a Box’ initiative by donating over £32,000 worth of surplus office furniture and equipment to the United Action for Children foundation, in Cameroon. This contribution diverted an impressive 35 tonnes of CO2e from waste streams, including savings of 24.3 tonnes of CO2e through the repurposing of materials from Lenovo’s Chineham office.
Located within the BREEAM Excellent 25 Templer Avenue building, Lenovo’s new workplace holds SKA Gold Certification, underlining their commitment to environmentally responsible fitout practices.
Lenovo's Farnborough workplace stands as a testament not only to sustainability but also to innovative solutions tailored to address evolving workplace dynamics in the wake of the global pandemic.
With the onset of the pandemic, Lenovo's workstyle required a fundamental shift in design approach. The previous office layout, although functional before the pandemic, was inadequate for meeting the evolving needs of the modern workforce. Its corporate-centric design lacked the versatility and appeal necessary for fostering collaboration, concentration, and creativity. Recognising this challenge, the design aimed not just at adapting to these shifting demands but also at reimagining the workspace as an inspiring hub for employees eager to return to the office.
Area’s innovative approach focused on creating a dynamic and adaptable environment that caters to the diverse needs of Lenovo's workforce. We introduced flexible layouts, movable partitions, and multifunctional spaces to accommodate various workstyles and preferences. Collaboration zones, equipped with cutting-edge technology, were thoughtfully positioned to encourage spontaneous interactions and creative brainstorming sessions. Additionally, quiet areas and designated focus zones were incorporated to support individual tasks and concentration.
Beyond functionality and innovation, the design also prioritised aesthetics and ambiance. Natural light, biophilic elements, and vibrant colours were thoughtfully integrated to create a welcoming and invigorating atmosphere. By infusing elements of comfort, inspiration, and connectivity, we aimed to evoke a sense of excitement and anticipation among employees about returning to the office.
Following a successful collaboration on the UK project, Lenovo entrusted our team with the refurbishment of their Parisian office. Located in the vibrant Rueil-Malmaison area, Lenovo's new office serves as a model of sustainability. Nestled within a Green Office accredited building with energy-efficient features, it offers breathtaking views that inspire and invigorate its workforce.
